Resources provided All specialist equipment, materials and production on the plays is included in the price of the 'Whisper in your Ear' workshop. Each student and school will receive their own copy.

All materials and equipment is provided with the Sound Effects & Storytelling Workshop.
Resources required To run the " Whisper in your Ear" workshop we require one quiet room big enough for students to move around and including enough chairs and at least five desks for the group. We also ideally need a second smaller room to set up the recording equipment. There will be a workshop leader and assistant running the workshops although it is often useful to have a member of staff available during the recording sessions as many of the students will be rehearsing while waiting to be recorded

For the Sound Effects & Storytelling Workshop we require a room large enough for the students to move around in with ideally chairs and several desks.

We understand that sometime these requirements need to be altered, should you have any worries about the above please just get in touch!

Fees According to our beliefs to make theatre accessible for all, our fees are not set in concrete and can be negotiated according to the group and project.
Insurance Artists registered with the organisation are insured.
CRB Disclosure

All personnel (and freelancers/artists) within the organisation who work directly with children and young people have had either a Standard or Enhanced Disclosure check within the last three years and can provide evidence of this on request.

CRB checks DO NOT relieve you from your child protection responsibilities and duty of care towards children and young people.

A criminal record shown on a disclosure does not prevent an artist appearing in the Directory, unless it is a schedule One offence under the Children and Young Person’s Act 1933. It is your responsibility to make adequate checks before employing LONSAS Associates and to implement a sufficient child protection policy. Click here for further information.

Bunbury Banter Radio Plays.

Inspired by the morality folk and fairy tales of old, Bunbanter radio plays are like no other! Each play, set in various genres, has some moralistic thread running through them and all have the unique, quirky Bunbanter style. Although our radio plays are child friendly they are predominantly for adults so they can be dark, unpredictable and weird.

Our tales are new writing encouraged by our series genres, promoting the mix of our storytelling heritage with the new society of today. Old moralistic tales are disappearing into our past, and being replaced by films and computer games. We aim to re-write these stories, inspired by the tales of old, encouraging people of today's world, the way past generations inspired our grandparents!

We started producing radio plays in July 2007 for the radio station HayesFM which covers the majority of West London. They air the plays twice weekly and can be listened to live over the radio or via live internet streaming on their website. Since then, we have attracted several other radio stations and websites who now regularly broadcast our plays these include Audio Book Radio, Blast FM and NuSound Radio.

Project 1

‘Whisper in your ear’ - Tailor made Radio Workshops

‘Whisper in your Ear’ is a workshop project that enables young people to create their own radio plays working through the conception of an idea, production, rehearsal and finally recording including sound effects and background audio. The final plays are then taken away by us, edited and the CD’s delivered back to the school for the class to enjoy! There is even the opportunity for the plays to be broadcast on Audio Book Radio - one of Bunbury Banter’s associate stations.

Due to the way we work, the students can script their own drama and record plays based on issues that are relevant to them. Alternatively workshops can address specific issues such as:

• Freedom
• Environment
• Racism
• Identity
• Antisocial Behaviour

For Schools; ‘Whisper in your Ear’ can also work as a focus on core curriculum subjects such as History and English. Working on these subjects encourages the students to imagine and explore the worlds behind the facts which can aid their work in the classroom.

Alongside drama and writing, the ‘Whisper in your ear’ workshop provides young people the opportunity to learn various production skills.

Skills and areas the workshops will include:

 Background on Audio Drama
 Developing an idea
 Script Work
 Producing
 Audio Acting Technique
 Recording
 Sound Effects

Producing Radio Drama demands teamwork and creativity while providing opportunities for young people to discover where their talents lie. To make a successful radio play also requires the students to respect and share their thoughts and ideas with the rest of the group.

We generally run ‘Whisper in your Ear’ as a two day workshop but it can also be extended to a three or four day workshop. Alternatively it works well as an ongoing course of two hours per week.

Project 2

Sound Effects and Storytelling – Tailor made Audio Workshop

Continuing our aim of widening the appeal and knowledge of audio drama, we are now offering a new workshop based around the themes of audio work, storytelling and drama.

Our Sound Effects & Storytelling workshop often works well with primary and nursery ages and can be booked as a whole two day workshop or individually split into two one day workshops tackling each subject.

Sound Effects
Drama has been proven to improve children’s confidence and imagination, but rarely is audio work included in the classroom and Bunbanter Education aims to change all that! In this workshop the children learn about the world of sound effects and how they are used in TV, Film and Radio. They then go on to produce their own live sound effects for sections of a pre-recorded poem or story. These can be set texts the children are reading in school or classics such as The Owl and the Pussycat. The day ends with the class combining their sections to produce the final live result, often with hilarious outcomes.

Storytelling
Our drama work continues in the second part of the workshop, based around the theme of storytelling. As usual the day begins with drama games and exercises which lead onto the idea of creating your own story. The children will work alongside our professionals to create their own unique tale and go on an adventure they never thought possible!
The workshop ends with a demonstration for parents, teachers and friends which enables the children to share what they have been working on.

The Outcome
Alongside improving drama skills and working on text, the Sound Effects & Storytelling Workshop provides children the opportunity to experience the world of audio theatre in a whole new way. We have found this often makes them more aware of sound when working on their tales the next day.

The Sound Effects & Storytelling Workshop demands teamwork, creativity, respect requires and share their thoughts and ideas, with the rest of the group.

The workshop as a whole tends to run over two full school days and is offered for 20 students

Deputy Head, Laleham Church of England Primary School

Glennon worked with the children of Laleham Primary School during 2006/7. She has led drama workshops with all year groups from Reception to Year 6, providing quality PPA release time.

Activities are purpose designed to enrich our curriculum whilst developing the children’s dramatic skills and teamwork. She has been happy to follow the school’s behaviour management policy and provide feedback to class teachers. Glennon’s punctuality and reliability are good, as are her working relationships with children and staff.

Stage Giant

Glenn has been working for stage Giant as a school manager and a teacher for a year now and is an extremely valued member of the Stage Giant team. In that time Glenn has been responsible for all the financial and administrative aspects of the running of the school, as well as teaching children ageing from 13-14 years. I cannot praise Glenn’s efficiency and reliability enough. She is very thorough in everything she does and is exceptionally hard working.

As well as carrying out the weekly duties of running the school she has had a great deal of creative input into the developing of the school’s programme.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
