What is story building?
I use story building in site specific workshopsto interpret associated themes, collections, exhibits and the environment in which they sit, i.e. place or period of history.

Story-building is a creative tool for all age groups.
It is a process that includes participants ideas then expressed in a narrative form, with the aim of increasing confidence and scope. It can be applied to most subjects and issues enabling themes to be explored from the inside out. It is also a means of creating a sense of ownership in what can often be an alien topic.

Project 1

'Homes and Homelessness' - Museum Of London-January 09

Interactive family storytelling workshops including songs and scenes from 'Oliver'and 'The Little Match Girl' and reflecting on what 'home' means, both today and in the past.

Consultancy and Training London Zoo

Two day training workshop.
I was invited back to London Zoo to train the interpretation team, collectively known as Explainers.
I offer practical ideas and strategies for planning, devising and delivering to different target audiences and age groups.

Project 2

Tate Modern and Tate Britain

2 hour story building sessions with songs for families based around the exhibits in the galleries.

This began with an introduction to building a story from scratch using objects and images. We then traveled the galleries responding to exhibits and including them in an evolving narrative created by the participants (adults and children)

This resulted in families working together to produce a book and performance of their own story.

Musuem of London Docklands

Lizzie has been working for me at Museum in Docklands since 2005, as a storyteller, actress and also on session development for the schools programme. She is always keen and evaluations of her sessions are excellent. Commissioned work is always completed with plenty of time and is thoroughly rehearsed, and her attitude is consistently professional. She has attended freelancer training days, and has done videoconferencing as well as 'live' work
